DESCRIPTION

The Art-Deco Puiforcat Clock designed by Jean Emile Puiforcat himself in 1932, features handcrafted silver digits, which have since become an iconic reference of the French geometrical Art-Deco movement and a Puiforcat signature.

Fourth generation silversmith and designer, Jean Emile Puiforcat was an influential figure of the French Art-Deco movement and agreeably the most important European silversmith of its time period.

Today, the workshop’s masters pay him homage as they release a limited edition of 50 Constellation Clocks. While they have partnered with one of Switzerland most revered watchmakers to improve the mechanical system with a 21-day movement. Each of the clocks has become a sought-after objet of virtu reflecting Jean Puiforcat's iconic signature and the exceptional smithery carried on by the workshop of Puiforcat.

Works by Puiforcat are held in the permanent collections of major museums including the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris among others. Andy Warhol was one of Puiforcat’s avid collectors. In 1988, an extensive series of silverworks by the Frenck workshop was auctioned by Sotheby’s together with Warhol’s private collections and memorabilia.
