SCHOLTEN + BAIJINGS & SEVRES

12.07.2017 - 02.07.2018

Dutch designers Carole Baijings and Stefan Scholten were invited to create colorful compositions alongside the Manufacture de Sèvres' legendary artisans. Scholten & Baijing occupy a very special place in the Dutch universe of product design. Their creations are minimal and present a wealth of details and beautiful eloquence through craftsmanship and a palette of limited but powerful colors.

The result of this collaboration is a perfect symbiosis between form and color. In a perfectly recognizable, chromatic universe of their own, pastels are diluted with almost fluorescent intensity. Mixed with the excellence of Sèvres—where shapes and colors are custom-made for artists—these hues are available on discs and new forms of vases that the designers have imagined. For their project, the duo revisited forms of vases from the Manufacture's archives and became passionate about enamel pallets. The results are three series of vases and a set of porcelain discs that display new and surprising colors,

The pieces on view in Miami make their American debut following their launch in September 2017 at Paris Design Week. Works from the same collection may also been seen at the National Museum of Ceramics, Sèvres, in the exhibition "Experience of Color".
