VIENNA'S LEGACY I: WIENER SILBER

VIENNA'S LEGACY I: WIENER SILBER

10.12.2016 - 11.12.2016

The roots of Wiener Silber Manufactur reach back to 1882. Originally purveyor of the Imperial Palace in Vienna, the small silversmiths workshop and their impeccable silverware and objects became a choice of distinction among the European elite and abroad. Today the master-silversmiths of Wiener Silber Manufactur carry on their predecessors' legacy with archives including iconic designs from Wiener Werkstatte figures such as J. Hoffmann, K. Moser and O. Prutscher among others. Still based in Vienna, the manufacture continues the dialogue and collaborations with contemporary designers while maintaining the highest level of craftsmanship and attention to details.

Of historical value, Wiener Silber Manufactur's archives cover some 11,000 designs, spanning from the avant-garde secessionists movement at the turn of the last century with design icons including Koloman Moser and Josef Hoffmann to Otto Prutscher and Oswald Haerdtl. Contemporary collaborations add names such as Ted Muehling, Tomás Alonso and Zaha Hadid to Wiener Silber Manufactur's rich design portfolio.

Known by a small international demographics of connoisseur and acute design collectors, Wiener Silber Manufactur's collections will be introduced to a wider audience for the first time at Les Ateliers Courbet in October 2016. The show will present highlights from the archives of Wiener Silber Manufactur as well as some of their latest collaborations. Visitors are invited to experience first hand the exquisite craftsmanship that has been a part of the company since its inception in 1882.
