Graduate of the University of the Arts London, German-born designer Bodo Sperlein opens his London-based studio in 2000.
Originally specializing in ceramics, Sperlein worked in collaboration with esteemed porcelain manufacturers around the world including Dibbern in Germany, Lladró in Spain and Nikko in Japan. His initial porcelain collections were created for Michelin-starred chefs and restaurants, such as The Ledbury, Five Fields, Yauatcha and Roppongi Terrace in Tokyo.
Sperlein’s work is the reflection of his engaged enthusiasm for supporting the ethos and the cultural heritages inherent to traditional craftsmanship. He materializes this interest through the design and production of signature collections handcrafted by skilled artisans using time-honored techniques, utilizing a broad variety of materials including wood, silver, and bone porcelain china.
His thorough appreciation and understanding of the material, his design details, and his advocacy for traditional savoir-faire, have made Bodo Sperlein’s design signature recognizable.
